Abstract:
The C.A.R.O. project is designed to photograph vegetation from 36 kilometers in with a visible light camera to determine basic structures and vegetation types, and NIR to assess plant health by the chlorophyll reflectance. It is known that ozone in the stratosphere prevents an excess of harmful UV rays from hitting life on the ground. When ozone is depleted, harmful radiation can negatively affect plant life. Plant health will be evaluated by separating four basic eco-regions and comparing each region type to other areas of the same type in order to draw parallels to the ozone levels. The C.A.R.O. team expects to show a relationship between poor plant health and ozone depletion.
