21st Course: Astroparticle Physics: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
1-7 August, 2018

TOPIC: Experimental data on the Highest-Energy Cosmic Rays and prospects for the future
LECTURER: Alan Watson
Location:

I will describe the results from the Pierre Auger Observatory on the energy spectrum, the mass composition and arrival direction distribution of cosmic rays above ~1018 eV. I will say a little about how these data tell us about the possible sources of these high-energy particles. I will also compare the Auger results with those from a similar observatory, the Telescope Array, which operates in the Northern Hemisphere. There are still differences to be resolved between the conclusions drawn from the sets of data from these observatories and it is important to understand these differences as future work in several areas will benefit from their resolution. I will conclude with some remarks about what might come next.
