Louisiana Aerospace Catalyst Experiences for Students Program
The LaAces ( Louisiana Aerospace Catalyst Experiences for Students) project is designed to give students
(attending LaSPACE institutions) a realistic simulation of work within aerospace project(s) that will hopefully encourage work in an aerospace
related STEM career. This program usually involves a full academic year; fall and spring semesters. The primary goal of the program is to give
students realistic experience with project management, life-cycle, experiment construction, data collection, and analysis skills for the project.
During the duration of a LaACES project, students will design, build, and fly small payloads up to about 100,000 feet (30 km) altitude on a
helium-filled latex sounding ballons, and then analyze the data and present the scientific/technical results.
