The weather forecast for Friday, September 11 launch and flight conditions is attached here. The high altitude wind speed and direction has moderated enough so that the Colorado minimum requirement of 1.5 hours of night appears feasible IF we launch no earlier than 8:30 am local (MDT). Surface and low level winds also appear to be reasonable. However, it is expected these winds will begin picking up by 9:00 am (MDT). Therefore, the launch window is VERY SHORT. Conditions for Saturday, Sunday and Monday are similar with the high altitude winds continuing to slowly moderate.
We have, therefore, decided to show for a HASP launch attempt tomorrow Friday September 11. Assuming a 8:30 am launch a rough estimated timetable of pre-launch events is included below. All times are in Mountain Daylight Time.
04:15 am -- Show time for HASP personnel. Students should be online ready to verify data. 04:30 am -- Show time for CSBF personnel 05:00 am -- HASP checkout complete. CSBF pickup of payload. 05:50 am -- Roll out to pad 06:10 am -- Switch HASP to internal batteries. Complete final student payload prep. 07:00 am -- Layout balloon 07:45 am -- Power up student payloads 08:00 am -- Begin balloon fill 08:30 am -- Launch
