ACES-05 Team Results

ACES had a successful balloon launch of three student payloads at 09:03 am CDT on Wednesday, 5/24/06 from the National Scientific Balloon Facility (NSBF) in Palestine Texas.

The balloon reached 96,978 feet before bursting at 10:56 CDT and was recovered about a half hour after landing in a pasture 60 miles from the launch site.

Preliminary results from the ACES-05 flight are shown below.  The flight path, as provided by the tracking group, is shown along with detail maps of liftoff and touchdown. Also shown is a plot of the altitude profile for the flight.

See the ACES-05 Team Pages for raw data results from the individual payloads.

Our Thanks to the NSBF for use of the facilities and for assistance with the launch, to the Baton Rouge and Palestine Amateur Radio Societies for aid in tracking, repeating and recording the balloon position, to LSU personnel for helping the students in design, construction and testing of the payloads, and to the Space Grant Program for supporting this workforce development effort.
