The Louisiana Space Consortium (LaSPACE) is a group of twenty-seven institutions of higher education, state education boards, nonprofit organizations and Business/industry partners from throughout the State of Louisiana that have banded together to strengthen aerospace research and education within the state. Aerospace is one of the growth areas nationally, and Louisiana can make a major contribution to this expanding "frontier" of exploration and development.
Of critical importance is the training of the next
generation of aerospace scientists and engineers. This is a multi-faceted
problem which involves college and university level research and teaching,
pre-college teacher education and student exposure and public understanding of
aerospace science and technology. LaSPACE was formed to address these concerns
and to coordinate activities both among member institutions, and with state
government, and with the private sector.
