The main thrusts of the LaSPACE Program are aerospace research and development, college and pre-college education, and public awareness of aerospace activities and opportunities. The Louisiana Space Consortium's principle goals, therefore, are to:

• Develop the infrastructure needed to help boost Louisiana's involvement in aerospace R & D, education and economic development.
• Coordinate and develop programs among the consortium institutions, with the private sector, with state and local government, and with NASA centers nationally.
• Enhance higher education in the aerospace field through:
• Graduate student fellowships
• Undergraduate student scholarships
• Curriculum development
• Contribute aerospace materials and expertise to on-going teacher awareness/training programs and pre-college student involvement programs
• Promote aerospace research/training opportunities at Louisiana institutions
• Work with LaSER (the state EPSCoR committee) to enhance statewide capabilities in aerospace science and technology
• Provide visibility for aerospace activities statewide
• Enhance recruitment and retention of women, minorities and disabled individuals in the aerospace field
