"Controls on the Optical Properties of Coastal Waters
in the Northern Gulf of Mexico"
PI: Michael J. Dagg, Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON)

This project uses laboratory and shipboard experiments and measurements to determine the controls on the optical properties of coastal waters, specifically, suspended inorganic particles, organic particles, colloidal particles, and other dissolved organic materials. This Earth Science project investigates controls on the optical properties of coastal waters in a system dominated by a large river to provide a better understanding of carbon cycling of coastal margins. This work supports a primary goal of NASA's Earth Science Enterprise to improve assessment of the global biogeochemical cycle of carbon.
